Africa-Press – Angola. Relations between Angola and the Kingdom of Sweden were reviewed during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and his Swedish counterpart, Tobias Billström, held on the sidelines of the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Affairs of Nordic-African countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), at the meeting the two entities addressed issues related to cooperation between the two countries, focused mainly on the reactivation of investment projects in various sectors of the two nations.

The meeting, according to the MIREX statement, also served to reaffirm Sweden’s availability to continue cooperating and supporting the development of Angola, especially in identifying new areas for future partnerships, namely Energy and Water, Transport, Industry, Technology Information and Telecommunications and Urban Development.

The two diplomats also analyzed issues about peace on the African continent and at a global level, where the head of Angolan diplomacy reiterated President João Lourenço’s availability and effort for the pacification of the Great Lakes Region and national reconciliation on the continent.

Sweden was one of the first countries to recognize Angola’s Independence and, since then, has maintained consistent cooperative ties with the Angolan Government. Among the various projects, the Kingdom of Sweden was responsible for the construction of the first Fisheries Training Center in Angola (CEFOPESCAS) and the Electrification Project in the municipality of Dembos, in the province of Bengo.
