Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Government of Luanda (GPL) is working, in partnership with the real estate sector, to make infrastructured land available to citizens who wish to realize the dream of owning their own home, an action that falls within the Directed Self-Construction Program, designed by the Executive Angolan.
The fact was announced, this Wednesday, by the vice-governor for Technical Services and Infrastructures of the province of Luanda, Cristino Ndeintunga, who was speaking during the 2nd edition of the Conference on infrastructures in Angola.
On the occasion, the leader highlighted that the initial phase of the Directed Self-Construction project, which by last March had already identified 325 thousand lots, in 16 provinces of the country, consists of territorial planning, with emphasis on the implementation of territorial planning instruments.
Approved by the Angolan Executive on May 30th, this program, to be implemented until 2027, includes the provision of a total of 910,600 plots of infrastructured land, in the country’s 18 provinces, with a view to reducing the current housing deficit in Angola, estimated at 2.2 million homes.
According to the vice-governor of Luanda, this initiative opens up opportunities for strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), through institutional interaction between the State and the private business sector.
Cristino Ndeintunga considered PPPs as the way to offset the economic challenges that the country faces, as well as enabling the construction of sustainable infrastructures to improve the quality of life of Angolans.
Regarding the 2nd edition of the Conference on infrastructures in Angola, the person responsible highlighted it as an event of crucial importance, as it serves as an opportunity for consultants, designers and lawyers to reflect on structuring themes that serve to ensure the country’s sustainable development.
Additionally, Cristino Ndeintunga also stated that this reflection contributes to the uniformity of technical thinking and produces valuable support for assertive decision-making by government authorities, in addition to making it possible to evaluate the participation of the business sector in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP ).
This initiative, he continued, reflects the desire of experts to transform the country’s potential into assets that produce competitive advantages in the national market, while improving the living conditions of the population.
On the other hand, the source recalled that the Angolan Government continues to focus on investing in infrastructure that serves as the basis for the country’s sustainable development.
He added that projects are underway to improve urban mobility, basic sanitation and construction of social facilities, which will serve as a basis for the sustainability of citizens’ living conditions.
Therefore, he called for the need for inspection companies and consultants to improve monitoring of public works, so that infrastructures have the desired quality and projected lifespan.
In turn, the executive director of the Angolan Association of Designers and Consultants (AAPC), Neusa English, said that the conference aims to contribute with sustainable ideas that allow the implementation of good practices in the design and planning of public infrastructures, ensuring quality and durability of projects built in the country.
Conference participants discussed topics such as “The implementation of infrastructure in Angola using PPP”, “Climate change and innovation, infrastructure technologies”, “Infrastructure financing”, Access to drinking water, electricity and housing” and “ESG criteria in the design and execution of infrastructures”, in a promotion by AAPC, ALMJ Colab Angola and RVA Advogados.
