Africa-Press – Angola. The country has registered notable advances in internal audit processes, taking into account the current organizational scenario of the public and private sector, recognized Wednesday, in Luanda, the president of the Association of Auditors of Angola, Artur Quicassa.

The leader of the auditors, who was speaking during the Annual Internal Audit Conference, highlighted that, currently, there is more awareness about the need for improvement, effectiveness and efficiency in Angolan organizations.

According to Artur Quicassa, this awareness has been beneficial in improving the ethical climate among internal auditors.

He added that, at this time, the association’s focus has been to improve the quality of the professionalization of internal auditors, with the search for professional training, due to the importance and professionalization of internal auditing.

“We see that there is an awakening of awareness among our internal auditors regarding the topic of ethics, as internal auditing is not a question of numbers, but rather a question of impact. Therefore, our commitment is to quality, efficiency and effectiveness, so that wherever an internal audit takes place there are positive changes”, he highlighted.

For her part, the president of the National Anti-Corruption Agency of Mali, Hawaly Kone, praised that the process of combating corruption in her country is on track, as a result of the involvement of the professional internal auditor.

The official highlighted that her association helps the Malian Government, with the implementation of good governance, training and awareness raising of authorities, providing guidance to inspectors in matters of control and public and private auditors.

On the same occasion, the representative of the International Institute of Global Auditing, Luís Lee, said that external quality assessment basically consists of evaluating the compliance that the internal audit function is having with the internal auditors’ code of ethics and also with the standards.

“When carrying out this assessment, basically what we verify is whether in this adoption all the fundamental principles of the internal audit profession are being practiced and in this way we are able to create trust and recognition of the internal audit function itself before third parties”, he explained..

Under the motto “The role of internal audit in increasing ethical behavior: Benefits and opportunities for Angolan organizations”, the Annual Internal Audit Conference featured lectures by national and international experts.

Among the speakers present, the president of the Public Ethics Commission of the Presidency of Brazil, Manuel Ferreira, the chief investigator of the National Agency for the Fight against Corruption of the Republic of Mali, among other experts, stood out.
