Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s good performance in the futsal World Championship, to be held from September 14th to October 6th, in Uzbekistan, depends on an organization proportional to the level of the event.
According to the former coach, Benvindo Inácio, in statements this Tuesday, in Luanda, following the call for the event, the Angolan Futsal Federation (FAFUSA) will have to organize itself the same or better than it did for occasion of the African Championship, resulting in second position.
The former coach believes in the skills of the athletes and the technical team, led by the Portuguese Marcos Antunes, as long as the preparation is done in detail.
In the draw, held on Sunday (26), Angola was placed in Group C with Argentina, Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Regarding the opponents, Benvindo Inácio considers it to be balanced, as FAFUSA simply needs to create conditions so that preparation allows the formation of a highly competitive group.
He stated that the fact that the World Championship takes place right after the national competitions will allow for a greater range of selectable athletes.
According to the source, the chances of the national team against Argentina (runner-up) are very low, just five or ten%, with a better result expected against Afghanistan and Ukraine.
Angola made its debut at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in 2021, and did not progress beyond the group stage.
They lost to the teams of Japan (4-8), Paraguay (1-4) and Spain (1-4).
In the World Futsal Ranking, recently released by FIFA, Angola occupies 47th position, with 1054.42 points, while in the African Ranking it is third, with 1054.42 points.
Brazil leads the World Ranking with 1568.41 points, followed by Portugal (1527.61 pts), while Spain occupies 3rd position (1514.42.pts).
