Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial commander of the Customs Fiscal Police Unit in Zaire, chief superintendent Manuel Marcelino Calhau, urged this Monday, in Mbanza Kongo, his staff to redouble their efforts to combat tax evasion on the border with Democratic Republic of Congo.
When speaking at the opening ceremony of the program commemorating the 28th anniversary of this body, to be celebrated on the 12th of June, the person responsible insisted that only with increased inspection of goods entering and leaving at different border posts with the neighboring country will the recommended objectives were achieved and the consequent collection of more revenue for the State coffers.
“The situation imposed by the national and international economic situation increasingly requires a redoubling of efforts from all Customs Tax Police personnel in the fight against tax evasion”, he reiterated.
To this end, Manuel Calhau urged the staff to invest more and more in academic training, with a view to improving their technical and professional capacity.
The act was witnessed by members of the Consultative Council of the Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior and the Zaire Provincial Command of the National Police, senior officers, subordinates, deputy chiefs, agents and civilian workers of the Customs Fiscal Police.
The commemorative program includes, among other activities, cleaning and beautification campaigns for units, lectures, a visit to the maternity ward at the Zaire Provincial Hospital, the inauguration of a medical post and the holding of an 11-a-side football square, called the Customs Fiscal Police Cup.
For this year, the commemorative day has the motto “With continuous technical and professional excellence of the Customs Tax Police staff, let us reinforce external tax inspection, within the framework of expanding the tax base to collect revenue for the General State Budget”.
