Africa-Press – Angola. The governments of Angola and the United States of America (USA) launch this Tuesday, in Luanda, the Support Program for Political Parties for a Resilient and Inclusive Democracy (PROPRID).
According to a press release, the program, which has a partnership with political parties with parliamentary seats, has funding of around 10 million dollars through the Agency for International Development (USAID).
It states that the regional program, which also includes Angola, will be implemented in partnership with the organization Democracy Works Foundation (DWF) and aims to promote representative multi-party systems.
The program also aims to support the development of democratic political parties that respond to citizens’ needs and are capable of developing effective policies in Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and South Africa.
The minister-counselor of the US Embassy in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, Mea Arnold, entities from the Angolan Executive and representatives of Angolan political parties will launch the program.
