Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty artists in the province of Huambo are working on the process of registering and legalizing their works, to benefit from copyright.
The information was provided by the representative of the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC-SA) in the province of Huambo, Benvindo Serafim “Ti Chini”.
The person responsible said it was a process that allows musicians to benefit from the money raised in restaurants, bars, among others, that use intellectual works.
He made it known that, as a result of registrations and legalization, five local artists will benefit from their copyrights in 2023, while the others will be able to receive this year the money that is raised where they play their music.
He said it is a new and important step that is being carried out in partnership with the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights, for the return of artists’ values, aiming for their social well-being.
Benvindo Serafim informed that UNAC-SA in the province has registered 50 restaurants, of which more than 30 have signed contracts
Therefore, he asked artists to update their works, both old and new, as some restaurants, event organizers and other institutions are already paying copyrights.
However, he said that the local UNAC-SA only has three inspectors to collect the amounts, a number that he considered insufficient, considering the number of institutions that the province of Huambo has.
UNAC-SA in the province of Huambo has registered more than 800 artists, of which only 80 updated their processes in 2023.
