Africa-Press – Angola. The Ngeya Festival has contributed to promoting the cultural identity of the Cokwe people and their traditional dances, as well as valuing the creativity of folk artists, said, this Thursday, in Saurimo (Lunda-Sul), its director artistic, Gabriel Tchiema.

Speaking to the press, regarding the third edition of the event, taking place on the 28th and 29th of this month, the person responsible said that the festival has also served to exchange experiences between groups from the Eastern region of the country and beyond.

He informed that, in this edition, nine dance groups from the provinces of Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul and Moxico will participate.

During the event, the musical group Sassa Cokwe Internacional will be honored for its contribution to promoting music and safeguarding traditional dances.

Ngeya (Cokwe term which in Portuguese means euphoria or party) is a project sponsored by Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, within the scope of its social responsibility program, and aims to rescue intercultural dialogue, meeting of generations and building legacies to promote multicultural of these three provinces of Angola

The first edition took place in June 2022, in the city of Dundo, province of Lunda-Norte, and the second in 2023, in Moxico.
