Africa-Press – Angola. The administrator of the municipality of Chicala-Cholohanga, José Manuel dos Santos, announced, this Friday, the recovery of ceramics that have been inactive since 1975, with the completion of the program to connect the locality to the national electricity grid, which began in 2023.

These are eight ceramics that produced tiles, bricks and decorative artifacts, at a time when the Executive was working on interconnecting the municipality to the national electricity grid, from the Laúca dam, in the province of Malange.

The administrator said there was acceptable potential and raw material capable of boosting the recovery of these industries, which in the past played a decisive role in strengthening the economy.

José Manuel dos Santos announced that the local administration is working on a strategic marketing plan, to attract potential investors, both national and foreign, to boost this industrial sector.

He said that Chicala-Cholohanga has countless agricultural and mineral potential that, with interconnection to the national electrical system, could open a new phase of reindustrialization, starting with the recovery of ceramics.

Currently, Chicala-Cholohanga has dozens of investors focused on promoting agriculture, livestock, small industry and exploration of mineral resources, whose entrepreneurs are requesting the improvement of access roads to facilitate the flow of products.

The municipalities of Cachiungo and Chicala-Cholohanga now have electricity from the public network, in an effort by the Ministry of Energy and Water, within the scope of the strategic plan for rural electrification, transport network, substation and distribution of electrical energy, in a project planned for be completed this year.

With four thousand 380 square kilometers, the municipality of Chicala-Cholohanga has an estimated population of 72 thousand inhabitants, mostly peasants.
