Africa-Press – Angola. The inhabitants of Oncocua, seat of the municipality of Curoca, in Cunene, have, for the first time since Saturday, access to Internet services, as part of the “Conecta Angola” project, the director of the company Angola Telecom in the province announced on Sunday.

Fernando dos Santos explained that the objective of the project, of a national nature, is to bring internet access to the most remote areas of the country. In the case of Cunene, he added, the municipality of Curoca was chosen.

“Conecta Angola”, he recalled, is helping to reduce digital exclusion and improve the quality of life of communities, regardless of geographic location, through access to digital information. The deputy administrator of Curoca highlighted the importance of digital technology in various sectors of life and praised the Angolan Executive’s initiative to improve services in the region and promote the well-being of the population.

Miguel Tchitangua also said that the installation of this important project is a long-awaited benefit for the population, because new information and communication technologies can attract more investors to explore the region’s potential.

The Municipal Administration of Curoca, he added, only had a restricted 2G broadband Internet system, which only supported public institutions. Citizens, he recalled, had to travel to the municipality of Cahama, 170 kilometers away, in search of Internet services.
