Africa-Press – Angola. MPLA vice president Luísa Damião said today that women have the support of the Angolan Executive, led by President João Lourenço, to continue to lower the prices of basic food products in order to improve medical and drug assistance.
Speaking at the Zungueira Women’s Forum, in an initiative of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), he said that the “female arm” of the MPLA must continue to be spokesperson for the cause of this important part of society: “It is necessary to strengthen the protection mechanisms of its activity with an SOS program, so that where there is a zungueira woman in need of protection, the OMA is present”.
In Luísa Damião’s perspective, the OMA and partners should also contribute to the economic, social and cultural empowerment of women, without losing sight of raising awareness of their rights and duties, in addition to defending the formalization of street vending.
On the other hand, he challenged the organization to ensure that the zungueira woman performs the activity without running or losing her possessions, that her health services are adapted to reality, as well as providing a better future, discounting for social security.
Luísa Damião appealed for the respect of society for the Zungueira woman, because “she is an entrepreneur and, like the others, she has dreams and a family, she is a mother and sister”.
“We want to encourage all Angolan women, in particular the Zungueira woman, to continue doing the work, always with creativity, also thinking about the formalization of the business”, reinforced the MPLA vice-president.
