Africa-Press – Angola. The International Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) proposed to its African counterpart, led by the Angolan Leonel da Rocha Pinto, a partnership for the elaboration of a model for the development of the sport in the world.

The communication from the world governing body, sent on Saturday to the president of the African Confederation of Sports for Amputees (CAAF), which ANGOP had access to, this Sunday, also suggests specific contributions for the future.

For this purpose, the document reads, a working group will be formed as soon as possible, including two representatives from each continent, preferably leaders from each Confederation.

This group to be formed will be able to meet online and in person to work together with WAFF.

The meeting of these continental leaders, scheduled for May, should only take place in the second half of July, in Istanbul (Turkey) on the sidelines of the World Cup draw, where Angola will defend the title won in 2019, in Mexico.

Elected last March for the 2022-2026 quadrennium, Leonel da Rocha Pinto has Mustafa Usman, from Cameroon (first vice president), Suleimah Isah, from Nigeria (second vice president), Peter Oloo, from Kenya ( secretary-general) and Khaled Eladl of Egypt (treasurer).

One of the goals of the WAFF is to make adapted football included in the program of the Paralympic Games, at a time when its absence is allegedly due to the danger that Canadians can pose to the physical integrity of the practitioner.

However, the sport has already taken six editions of World Championships without any incidents of an impeding nature to the Paralympic event, which in 2024 will take place in Paris (France).
