Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic received, Wednesday (27), in audience, at the Government Palace, in Cidade Alta, the American bishop of the Episcopal Methodist Church (IME), Silvester Scott, who was responsible for giving the inauguration blessing to Joe Biden.
Upon leaving the meeting, Silvester Scott, who has been in the country since Tuesday to deal with matters related to his religious institution, revealed to the press that it was the first time that an IME bishop had been received, in audience, by by the Angolan President.
“I want to thank the wonderful way in which I was received by the President of the Republic, since my arrival, as well as the conditions put at my disposal”, highlighted the bishop, stressing that he will report to President Joe Biden the warm way he was welcomed by the Angolan statesman .
“President Joe Biden is my personal friend. Therefore, I will be happy to report to him the gesture that President João Lourenço had with me”, he highlighted.
The prelate said that the purpose of coming to the country is to ordain some deacons of the Church, as well as to deal with the issue of legalizing the religious institution in the country.
“The Methodist Episcopal Church, in Angola, is in the process of registering it, which is why I traveled to the country to deal with the matter”, he stressed. The Methodist Episcopal Church in Angola has 42 temples and has supported the State in the fields of Education, Health and social services.
