With innovations for the current Olympic cycle, José do Amaral Júnior “Maninho” is reelected today, president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND) for the second consecutive term, whose election takes place from 8 am to 12 pm, at the Paulo Bunze amphitheater, headquarters of the institution. After the election, at 2:15 p.m., the ballot boxes will be opened and the provincial districts will present their results to the Electoral Commission. According to the electoral program, the counting of votes will take place fifteen minutes later.

The Electoral Commission, chaired by Ngouabi Salvador, will release the results at 4:00 pm.

Despite running alone for his own succession, Maninho predicts an overwhelming result, given the campaign carried out among members, with emphasis on the two main locations in the sport, Luanda and Benguela.

A significant result attests to the acceptance of the continuity program presented during the 28 days of interaction with the voting population. Thursday and yesterday were days reserved for reflection.

The introduction of new departments, with emphasis on beach handball, is one of the innovations of the mandate. The goal is to create conditions so that after two Olympic cycles Angola reaches the world Top 5 (women) and wins a continental title (men).

Increasing the number of players, qualified coaches and sports courts for recreational and high-performance handball are also part of the goals. Refereeing, according to the candidate, is also important for the development of the sport.
