Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, called for the preservation of ethics, parliamentary decorum and interventions shaped by peace and constructive dialogue. In a short speech that marked the closing of the 2nd Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the 3rd Legislative Session of the 5th Legislature of the National Assembly on Friday, which voted in Generality on the State Budget Proposal for the Economic Year 2025 (OGE-2025), Carolina Cerqueira stated that the good of the people and the nation must be the scope of the concerns of all deputies who, despite party differences, are guided by respect and responsibility in relation to their duty as excellent representatives of the populations. Carolina Cerqueira reinforced the call for peaceful, respectful dialogue, based on ethics, decorum and the responsibility of each parliamentarian, for the sake of the well-being of the country.
Carolina Cerqueira mentioned the fact that the discussion and approval, in general, of the 2025 State Budget was a true exercise in democracy with contributory interventions to identify and improve some State Budget proposals so that they better respond to the demands of citizens, families and companies.
Prior to the second day of the session and under the guidance of the President of the National Assembly, the presidents of the parliamentary groups held an extraordinary meeting of leaders with the aim of reiterating Parliament’s commitment to holding debates through a healthy dialogue, which respects parliamentary order and decorum and is constructive, regardless of political and ideological differences, for the promotion of peace and national unity.
During the meeting, the leader of the National Assembly focused on the need for parliamentarians, during their speeches, to bear in mind that the hemicycle should be dedicated to political debate and not to party activism. She therefore stressed that the activity of the deputy should be manifested as a way of transmitting messages of peace, concord and harmony to citizens.
With revenues and expenses estimated at 34.63 billion Kwanzas, the State General Budget Proposal for the 2025 Economic Year (OGE-2025) was approved, in general terms, with 112 votes in favor, 63 against and three abstentions.
