Africa-Press – Angola. Constantino Cambule, from the Populares do Huambo team, won the 10-kilometre São Silvestre de Viana Walking Race, an event that had 505 participants, in 26 minutes and 33 seconds.
In second place was David Inácio, from Petro de Luanda (with 26 minutes and 44 seconds), while Simão Manuel, from Bicho do Mato, with 26 minutes and 51 seconds, was third in Saturday’s race. The first place winner received 500 thousand kwanzas, the second 400 and the third 300.
In the women’s category, Josefina Baptista, from Caminhando do Kilamba, came in first place, with a time of 31 minutes and 45 seconds, Joana Vicente, individually, came in second place, with 32 minutes and 34 seconds, and Margarida Tchikuenje, from Novos Corredores, came in third place, with 32 minutes and 47 seconds.
In the Paralympics, Domingos Paulo, in the men’s category, with 27 minutes and 37 seconds, was first, followed by Manuel Quime and João Feliciano, with 28 minutes and 52 seconds and 33 minutes and 25 seconds, respectively.In the women’s category, Helena Quintas, with 39 minutes, was the winner, followed by Anita Ngueve, who did 40 minutes and 05 seconds, and Salomé Augusto with 40 minutes and 06 seconds.
In the older race, Guilherme Tomás, with 53 minutes and 30 seconds, came first in the men’s category, while in the women’s category, Edna Chapulo reached the finish line with 55 minutes and 10 seconds.
The race started at 5:00 pm from the return near the Coelho basin, on National Road 230, passing through Hoji Ya Henda and 11 de Novembro streets, ending at Largo 10 de Dezembro, in front of the Viana Municipal Administration.
The event, which is in its fifth edition, stood out as an opportunity to promote the health, cohesion and dynamism of the municipality.
Speaking to the press at the end of the race, the municipal director of social communication in Viana, Januário Damião, highlighted the importance of the initiative for engaging young people and strengthening the cultural identity of the district. According to him, this type of initiative strengthens the sporting spirit of the municipality and its festive end-of-year atmosphere. The race was attended by federated and non-federated athletes from the provinces of Bengo, Huambo, Cuanza Sul, Bié, Huíla and Luanda.
