When speaking at the event that marked his presentation as the first governor of the newly created province, within the framework of the country’s new Political-Administrative Division, the official assured that the institutionalization of the province of Moxico-Leste marks the launch of the region towards development, as a desire expressed by the children of the land.“This development will naturally not only depend on me, but also on the entire population, especially the churches, political parties and traditional authorities”, stated Crispiniano dos Santos, in the presence of the Minister of Territorial Administration (MAT), Dionísio da Fonseca.
Crispiniano dos Santos also assured that all the problems have been identified and will be resolved in accordance with financial availability and priorities.
“Through dialogue with the entities I have just mentioned, we will find mechanisms to solve each of the problems, starting by defining priorities, because resources are not always sufficient”, he argued.
Present at the ceremony, the governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, who for a long time assumed leadership of the entire territory of the province, today divided within the scope of the Political-Administrative Division, called on the population to work with the new governor to resolve the various problems that still exist.
“I want to reiterate our full support to the Government of Moxico-Leste, in whatever is necessary, for the well-being of all”, he assured.The province of Moxico-Leste is the result of the division of the territory of Moxico into two, with the town of Cazombo as its capital, comprising nine municipalities (Cazombo/provincial headquarters, Cameia, Luacano, Luau, Nana-Candundo, Lóvua do Zambeze, Caianda, Lago-Dilolo and Macondo), and four communes (Cazombo, Lumbala-Caquengue, Macondo and Calunda).
The first governor, Crispiniano dos Santos, was born on 29 March 1985, in the municipality of Ombadja, in the province of Cunene, and will face the challenge of completing the asphalting of the National Road 250, on the Marco 25/Cazombo section, covering a distance of almost 200 kilometres, considered the “gateway” to the capital of the new province.
With a degree in Education Sciences, the governor will also have to ensure the electrification of the provincial capital and municipal headquarters, with clean photovoltaic/solar energy, drinking and piped water, housing, schools, bridges, development of agriculture, tourism, among other investments in various sectors.
Crispiniano dos Santos comes to Cazombo for the second time, the first time for the funeral of Queen Nhakatolo Tchilombo and the second for the enthronement of Anabela Ngambo.For the past two years, he has been a member of the MPLA Parliamentary Group in the National Assembly, and has also served as the first national secretary of the JMPLA and provincial secretary in Cunene.
Institutionalisation of the country’s new provinces completed
Yesterday, the Executive concluded the process of institutionalising the country’s new provinces, created under the new Political-Administrative Division, with the formalisation and presentation of the first governor of Moxico-Leste, Crispiniano dos Santos.The process of institutionalizing the new provinces began on Friday, with the implementation of the province of Icolo and Bengo and the presentation of the local governor, Auzílio Jacob.
After Icolo and Bengo, it was the turn of the institutionalization of the provinces of Cubango and Cuando, on Saturday, resulting from the division of the province of Cuando Cubango.
For the province of Cuando, Lúcio Gonçalves do Amaral was presented as governor, while José Martins will lead Cubango. The events were also led by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca.
The new provinces were created under the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA) of Angola, approved on August 14, 2024, by the National Assembly. In the new configuration, the country now has three new provinces, totaling 21, 326 municipalities and 378 communes. The new provinces resulted from the division of Moxico (Moxico-Leste), Cuando Cubango (Cubango) and Luanda (Icolo and Bengo).
