Africa-Press – Angola. Angola will hold, next Tuesday, in Luanda, the Forum Tech Hub 2022, on digital technologies in Africa.

The information was released this Tuesday in Luanda by the national director of telecommunications and information technologies, Matias Borges, during a press conference held at the Aníbal de Melo Press Center (CIAM).

Matias Borges said that the forum will be held on the occasion of the World Day of Telecommunications and the Information Society, which is celebrated on the 17th.

The Angola Tech Hub 2022 forum will be held by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, in partnership with Internet Tecnology Angola (ITA), and will have as its motto “Angola’s Leadership for Digital Transformation in Africa”.

Matias Borges said that the forum is expected to bring together around 200 individuals from various social sectors and representatives from industries, hotels, finance, education and banking.

The main objective, he said, is to bring together various policy makers and members of the Government, to reflect on the potential and development of ICTs, pointing out new business solutions, within the scope of the diversification of the national economy. The forum will also contribute to the acceleration of digital technologies and the construction of robust infrastructures to respond to the new reality.

Others interested in participating in the forum can do so online, via e-mail www.techhubforum.com.

Matias Borges explained that at the forum the topics will be covered in two panels: the first will highlight digital entrepreneurship and the diversification of the economy and the second will address the role of digital technologies in sustainable development, with topics related to the challenges and opportunities of technological advances .

During the meeting, a round table will also be held, which will address topics related to robust infrastructures, as catalysts of digital transformation, where participants will be representatives of Unitel, Movicel, Africell, Angola Telecom, Inacom and MS Telecom. World Telecommunications and Information Society Day has been celebrated every year on May 17 since 1969 to celebrate the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and also the first signing of the International Telegraph Convention in 1865.

This year, ITU commemorates the date under the motto: “Digital technologies for the elderly and healthy aging.” The event is aimed at all representatives of the ICT ecosystem in Angola and other countries.

The ITU representative, Francisco Leite, said that this forum is being sponsored taking into account the challenges of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication in building more infrastructures linked to ICTs, throughout the national territory.
