Africa-Press – Angola. Fifty years of National Independence should serve as an opportunity for Angolans to renew their commitment to the country’s socio-economic development, said, this Tuesday, in Mbanza Kongo, the governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho.
Speaking, after laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier in reference to the 4th of February – the day of the beginning of the Armed Moon of National Liberation, the government official stressed that the date should serve as a reflection for all Angolans, for constituting the path that led the country to National Independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975.
He added that the fight for socio-economic development, for social justice, for the consolidation of peace and democracy constitute the greatest challenges for Angolans, to better cement and honor all those who with determination and bravery sacrificed their lives for the benefit of the nation.
On the occasion, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho repudiated the behavior of some citizens who incite disorder and violence, instrumentalizing youth.In this regard, he appealed to young people to refrain from unseemly conduct, drawing inspiration from the legacy of the heroes of the 4th of February.
The governor also placed, in the upper area of the city of Mbanza Kongo, a wreath of flowers at the tomb of the unknown soldier, whose act was witnessed by members of the Government, deputies, former combatants and veterans of the country, members of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA ), National Police, traditional authorities, religious entities and guests.
