Africa-Press – Angola. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.4% in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to preliminary figures from the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to the Rapid Information Sheet (FIR) of the National Accounts for the 4th quarter of 2024, dated last February, from the 3rd to the 4th quarter of last year, GDP grew by 0.06%, taking into account the seasonally adjusted series.
Compared to the last three months of 2023, GDP grew by 3.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The positive year-on-year change was mainly due to the following activities: mining of diamonds, metallic minerals and other 44.8 %; transport and storage 10.4 %; fishing 12.2 %; electricity, gas and water supply 6.5 %; trade 4.6 %; other services 4.9 %; public administration, defence and compulsory social security 4.3 %; agriculture and hunting 3.5 %; and petroleum extraction and refining 2.8 %.
In terms of current variation, gross domestic product in the period under review totalled 23,025,128 million kwanzas, of which 259,451 million kwanzas corresponds to taxes on products net of subsidies.
Considering the total value of activities in the quarter, agriculture recorded 2 million kwanzas, fishing 1.9 million kwanzas, oil extraction and refining 5.4 million kwanzas, diamond extraction, metallic minerals and other non-metallic minerals 649.5 million kwanzas, manufacturing 2.4 million kwanzas, electricity and water 175.7 million kwanzas.
