MAT Assesses Implementation of New Political-Administrative Division in Benguela ‎

Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Territorial Administration (MAT) will evaluate, over three days, the degree of implementation of the new political-administrative division in Benguela.

According to a note sent, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio Manuel da Fonseca, arrived in Benguela in the early evening of last Wednesday, April 9th.

‎The Minister of MAT has scheduled a working meeting with the local government, during which he will review the socioeconomic conditions and infrastructure of the new administrative entities.

‎The trip’s program also includes a visit to assess the status of the 1st Technical and Scientific Conference on Local Development, the Fair and Forum of Municipalities and Cities of Angola and the 2nd Edition of the Best Municipality of Angola Award, to be held from August 5th to 10th this year in that region. ‎

‎The Local Development Week is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of national independence, which is celebrated under the motto, “Angola 50 years: Preserving and Valuing the Achievements, Building a Better Future”.

‎Within the framework of the new Political-Administrative Division, the number of municipalities in the province of Benguela increased from 10 to 23, and now has 12 communes.
