Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço, left the country on Friday morning, heading to Rome, Italy, to attend the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis, who died this week at the age of 88. Before leaving, João Lourenço received farewell greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, from entities of the Catholic Church in Angola and from members of the Government.

The Head of State will be accompanied on this trip by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.

According to the programme, the funeral of the Supreme Pontiff will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at St. Peter’s Basilica, where the body of the Supreme Pontiff is located, followed by a procession to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.

The funeral of Pope Francis is expected to bring together between 150 and 170 foreign delegations, including approximately 50 Heads of State and Government.
