The Head of State, João Lourenço, held a meeting on Friday evening in Rome, Italy, with the President-elect of the Republic of Gabon, Brice Oligue Nguema, with whom he discussed strengthening bilateral relations. The information was released on the website of the Presidency of the Republic, which highlights the meeting between the two Heads of State since the election of Oligui Nguema.
The President of the Republic is in the Italian capital to attend the funeral of Pope Francis.
The meeting between the two Statesmen was witnessed by members of the Executive of their respective delegations, with emphasis on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
On Monday, President João Lourenço received farewell greetings at the Presidential Palace from the Gabonese ambassador to Angola, Guy Nambo Wezet, who ended his diplomatic mission in the country after nine years.For almost a decade, the diplomat represented the interests of the Gabonese Republic in Angola, having contributed significantly to the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, Guy Nambo Wezet stated that he was leaving Angola with a “sense of duty fulfilled”, highlighting the progress made in cooperation between the two States during his term in office.
