Fear of Electoral Truth Led the MPLA to Hold Electoral Debate

Africa-Press – Angola. The Judges of the Court of Appeal of Luanda ordered the suspension of the National Dialogue on the Electoral Legislative Package that was scheduled for May 8, 2025, at the initiative of the Angolan Bar Association. The National Dialogue on the Electoral Legislative Package aimed to gather opinions from various sectors of society on this crucial matter for electoral justice.

The Court of Appeal of Luanda, by deliberating so quickly on a political and legal matter submitted for its consideration, is clearly demonstrating its submission to the political power that does not wish to see its intentions thwarted. This was already being said and now it has been proven.

When cases that cry out for justice are piled up in the courts and are not attended to, others disappear due to illicit practices and a precautionary measure is granted so quickly just because it comes from some Specialty Committee, this is a message that is being conveyed to us. And the message is that the courts do not decide in the name of the people, they use the people to decide in the name of a handful of self-interested parties.

Wouldn’t the National Dialogue on the Electoral Legislative Package be a valuable contribution?

Fear of the electoral truth has led the MPLA to halt dialogue. This is clearly yet another shot by the MPLA against itself.
