United Kingdom Reaffirms Commitment to Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. The United Kingdom remains committed to strengthening economic cooperation with Angola, based on increased investment and support from the private sector with the aim of boosting economic growth in both countries. The strategy was recently reiterated in Luanda by the Director of Trade Promotion for Africa at the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) of the United Kingdom.

Hannah Williams, who was speaking at the Business Forum between Angola and the United Kingdom, highlighted the existence of “various business opportunities” in the Angolan market and assured that the British Government is ready to support companies from both the United Kingdom and Angola in order to take advantage of this potential.

“The opportunities in Angola are vast, our focus is to provide practical support, expert guidance and facilitate lasting partnerships with a real impact on the economy”, she stressed. For Hannah Williams, practical support will be provided by market experts in eight African countries, including Angola, with in-depth knowledge of local dynamics. The experts, the director said, are prepared to provide technical advice in sectors such as infrastructure, clean energy, education, public services, trade and mining, and will work directly with African governments to remove barriers to the business environment. “We are working to ensure that companies have access to a more transparent, competitive and efficient market,” she stressed. The third pillar is the construction of long-term sustainable partnerships, involving the private sector and British financing institutions, in particular the UK Export Finance Agency and other investment support entities. “The aim is to create synergies with local and international companies that can generate mutual benefits, such as more jobs, technology transfer and development,” she said.
