Africa-Press – Angola. A delegation from the Ombudsman’s Office travelled last week to the city of Pretoria, South Africa, to exchange experiences in various areas with its counterpart in that country. The meeting took place within the scope of the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the Ombudsman of Angola and the Public Protector of South Africa, which focused on the organisation and operating model, the legal framework, the powers, competences and prerogatives of the body, the handling of complaints, the relationship with international institutions, as well as compliance with the recommendations issued.
According to a note sent, issues related to the administrative and financial management model supporting the Activity Plan were also addressed, which allowed for the sharing of experience between technicians from similar areas, the comparative exercise of process management and the identification of opportunities for improvement in administrative, financial and logistical routines.
In addition to the bilateral meetings, visits to technical areas and field activities were also carried out, with emphasis on the visit to the Provincial Services in the city of Johannesburg, monitoring of awareness-raising activities, investigation of complaints, among others.
At the end of the visit, the Deputy Ombudsman, Aguinaldo Cristóvão, considered that the exchange of experiences exceeded expectations given the mutual interest demonstrated in matters related to cooperation between institutions in the area of procedural processing and dissemination strategies, considering that efforts to improve performance and bring services closer to citizens were common.
