Africa-Press – Angola. Coach Filipe Zanza announced on Saturday the end of his contract with 1o de Agosto after losing the Angola Cup, the last competition of the 2024-25 season.

After the 0-1 loss to Kabuscorp do Palanca at the 11 de Novembro stadium, Zanza told the press that he will leave the team with a sense of accomplishment.

Zanza, said that building a team of athletes from the youth, junior, and senior B levels who fought for their goals had not been easy.

“I don’t have a license for international games, so I can’t continue. It’s time for the board to find another coach,” he reiterated. He added that it had been a very difficult four years with several problems.

Regarding the game, Zanza acknowledged it was a negative result due to his team’s constant mistakes, as well as the attackers’ ineffectiveness.

In the Angola Cup, 1.° de Agosto has won six trophies. Petro de Luanda, the champion of the last four editions, is the biggest winner with 15 titles.

The team finished third in the championship, qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.
