Minister Manuel Homem Praises Special Police Force PIR

Africa-Press – Angola. The minister of the Interior, Manuel da Conceição Homem, praised the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR), on Wednesday (4), in Luanda, for serving Angola with honour, readiness and persistence, through constant training, education and capacity building to mitigate the challenges of public security throughout the country.

In a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 33rd PIR’s anniversary, Manuel Homem praised efforts of the personnel of this body, recalling that they carry out tactical interventions in situations of high-risk organized crime, with courage and determination in the paths of operations.

He also praised the dedication and commitment of the PIR’s National Command in the ongoing training of its staff.

The date June 4, 2025, marks the PIR 33rd anniversary, a special force of the Angolan National Police dedicated to carrying out operations to maintain and restore public order in highly complex contexts, as well as to managing and resolving critical incidents.

Created in 1992, PIR continues to combine efforts in carrying out specific activities and operations to guarantee social peace, through the application of various highly complex tactical police confrontation measures.
