Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Angola and the African Union (AU), João Lourenço, highlighted on Saturday in Luanda the important role played by families and civil society in promoting education and valuing the talents of Angolan children.

The statement was made during the closing ceremony of the 8th edition of “Junho Criança” (Children’s June), a joint initiative of the “Roda do Amor” (Wheel of Love) Project and the Presidency of the Republic, held in celebration of African Children’s Day marked on June 16.

For João Lourenço, who was accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, initiatives such as these demonstrate that whenever civil society embraces noble causes, such as education and child welfare, the results are visible and impactful, as witnessed by the participants at the event.

Visibly pleased, the Head of State congratulated all those directly and indirectly involved in organizing the activity, with special emphasis on the children’s guardians and families, underscoring the importance of their active involvement.

João Lourenço also expressed confidence in the positive impact of projects that focus on training new generations, referring specifically to the work of “Espaço Aplausos” as an example of good practices that should be replicated.

The cultural activity brought together more than 300 children from various schools in the municipality of Sambizanga, the Dom Bosco Center, Espaço Aplausos, and the African community residing in Angola.

The main objective of the event was to raise collective awareness about children’s rights, ending with a lunch hosted by the President of the Republic.
