Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Government, through the National Institute for Religious Affairs – INAR, announces, in a statement, that, in accordance with the Executive Decree that revokes the recognition of the religious confession Church of Jesus Christ of the Spirit of Truth, commonly known as BIMA Church, its definitive closure has been determined throughout the national territory.
According to the statement, dated June 30, the decision is the result of a thorough administrative process, motivated by practices that seriously undermine public order, human dignity, violation of the rules on money laundering, illicit transfer of funds abroad, facilitation of the acquisition of Angolan citizenship documents by foreign citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as violation of the principles enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic.
Due to this situation, INAR forwarded the evidence gathered to the Attorney General’s Office – PGR, and the case is currently underway, awaiting the appropriate judicial ruling.
On the other hand, INAR regrets the impacts of this measure on the faithful and communities involved, but stresses that this was the only institutionally and legally adequate way to respond to repeated and serious occurrences within the aforementioned confession.
The institution appeals to the serenity, understanding and collaboration of the members of the BIMA Church, encouraging them to integrate into legally recognized religious communities, whose conduct is aligned with the values of the Constitution, national culture, human rights and respect for State institutions.
Finally, the National Institute for Religious Affairs reaffirms its unwavering commitment to defending religious freedom as a fundamental right, while stressing that its exercise must comply with the principles of legality, responsibility and respect for human dignity.
