French Ambassador Promotes Investment in Angola'S SEZ

Africa-Press – Angola. The French ambassador to Angola, Sophie Aubert, said on Thursday in the municipality of Calumbo, Icolo and Bengo province, that she will encourage French businesspeople to invest in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), as it meets the conditions for the implementation of private businesses.

The diplomat made these statements to the press, after a visit to the medical device industry “Medvida”, and stressed that the objective is to identify the best investment and business opportunities in the non-oil sector in Angola.

On the other hand, she praised the various products of the hospital sector made there, such as bandages, worker block suits, ear protectors, gauze, gowns, among others, and which respect international requirements.

For his part, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the ZEE, Manuel Pedro, said he had conveyed a message to the ambassador about the existence of an area of 4,700 hectares, thus being open to welcome French investors, mainly in the food industry, one of France great potentials.

The manager said that he also informed the ambassador about the existence of a project linked to the cosmetics industry, to be implemented in the ZEE, with French funding.

The Special Economic Zone was created in 2009 with the main objective of promoting national industry, diversifying the economy, attracting private and foreign investment, and generating employment.
