Africa-Press – Angola. The Government plans to develop a National Fertilizer Plan to ensure the acquisition, in the first instance of the first 180 million tons of fertilizers for each agricultural season, the Secretary of State for Planning, Luís Epalanga, said on Thursday in Luanda.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting between the Government’s Economic Committee and the Business Technical Group, with the aim to evaluate the evolution of the national market, emphasizing that the plan is in its final stages and should be approved in the coming days, allowing for the provision of fertilizers before the start of the agricultural season.
“We had informed our business people that there are specific credit lines identified by the Ministry of Finance so we can support our operators”, he said.
Luís Epalanga emphasized that the meeting was held to identify joint solutions that will allow us to continue stimulating, primarily, domestic production and ensure price stability for widely consumed goods.
He highlighted that another aspect addressed, at the agricultural level, has to do with credit for the agricultural campaign.”Ensuring that we can overcome some bureaucracies and constraints that prevent economic and business activity from being carried out on the required scale. I am talking about the issue of the business environment and also finding joint paths that allow us to increase employment, especially youth employment”, he said.
Regarding the fishing sector, the government official added, among other things, the discussion focused on infrastructure to support artisanal fishing.
According to Luís Epalanga, a survey of all infrastructure that can support artisanal fishing activities is underway, both nationally and with provincial governments.
He said that the possibility of reactivating the Fishing and Aquaculture Industry Development Support Fund (FADEPA) was being evaluated through a specific line of credit to support fishermen, especially those involved in aquaculture activities.
The Secretary of State noted that, regarding trade, transportation, and logistics, there are still difficulties in exporting products.
“The government is planning a single export window, but it is not yet complete. What we agreed with the business technical group is to create a group that can develop an alternative solution”, he emphasized.
The meeting between the Government’s Economic Team and the Business Technical Group was chaired by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, and also served to align the path forward in addressing the challenge of economic growth.
