Africa-Press – Angola. The project to build an African Intercontinental highway was discussed on Friday in Luanda by the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, and a delegation from the Korea African Peace Foundation.
A press release sent, states that the project, presented by the president of the South Korean institution, Yongwoo Lee, includes 1,912 kilometers on Angolan soil, up to the border with Namibia.
This stretch would link several Angolan provinces to the border with Namibia, with the aim of improving regional integration and mobility.
As well as road infrastructure, the South Korean foundation is also proposing to support social projects, such as a reception and educational training centre for children in Angola, inspired by a model already implemented in Ethiopia.
The Angolan ruler thanked the Korean delegation for the initiative and directed the creation of a joint technical team, which will work on gathering technical data with a view to formalizing the proposal.
