Angolan Leader Supports Strategic Partnership with Portugal

Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President João Lourenço on Friday in Lisbon advocated the construction of a solid and lasting partnership between Angola and Portugal to promote progress, development, and an unbreakable friendship between the two countries.

The Head of State expressed this fact in the Guest Book of the São Bento Palace, the office of the Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, with whom he met as part of the official visit to

Portugal, meant the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

“We are here at this Palace on a new occasion to address essential aspects of relations between Angola and Portugal, which will help to instill growing dynamism and elevate them to ever higher levels,”

João Lourenço wrote, expressing his desire to see bilateral cooperation reach ever higher levels, sustained by principles of creativity and mutual benefit.

João Lourenço has been fulfilling an intense political agenda, which already included a meeting with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, with whom he discussed matters of common interest.

Relations between Angola and Portugal include strong ties in sectors such as diplomacy, education, culture, economy, justice, and security.

President João Lourenço’s visit, scheduled to conclude on Saturday (26), continues with meetings with representatives of the Portuguese business sector.
