Africa-Press – Angola. The Senegal men’s basketball team, a member of Group D of the 31st Edition of Afrobasket, taking place in Luanda and Namibe from the 12th to the 24th, will be without its star, small forward Babacar Sane.

Senegal, one of the teams contending for the title after 1968, 1972, 1978, 1980, and 1997, has a group featuring Jean Jacques Boissy MPV, who played for Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya in the last edition of the Basketball African League (BAL), where he was crucial in the 67-88 defeat to Petro de Luanda.

Babacar Sane, 21, and representing the Senegalese national team since 2022, is one of the most prominent names in Senegalese sport. This season, after shining for Monastir in Tunisia and more recently in the Summer League, he is not among those selected.

Senegal will open the competition on Tuesday (12) at 12 noon against Uganda.

In the 2nd round, they will face the strong Egyptian national team on Thursday (15) and conclude the regular season against Mali next Saturday (17).

Here are the names of the selected players: Babacar Diallo, Abdou Mané, Jean Jacques Boissy, Brancou Badio, Makhtar Guéye, Pape Diop, Amar Sylla, Ousmane Ndiaye, Ibrahima Faye, Ibrahima Diallo, Gora Camara, Ibou Dianko Badji.
