Africa-Press – Angola. The Government of the Province of Zaire recently referred nine cases involving construction companies to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for failure to meet contractual deadlines in some municipalities in the region.
Speaking to the press at the end of a seminar on the preparation of the General State Budget (OGE) for the 2026 financial year, the director of the Office of Studies, Planning, and Statistics, Hednildo Teixeira, explained that many of these companies received the funds agreed upon with the Provincial Government without, however, completing the contracts awarded to them.Among the projects abandoned by contractors, the official highlighted the construction of a secondary health institute in the municipality of Nzeto and a drinking water supply system in the town of Cuimba.
“The construction of the secondary health institute in Nzeto was already quite advanced, but unfortunately, the contractor abandoned it without a trace. We asked the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to activate the legal mechanisms to resume the work or return part of the money received,” he said.
Regarding social projects for the newly created municipalities under the new Political-Administrative Division, the planning director said that the local government is already working on the construction of some social enterprises in these locations.
He confirmed that a technical team from the Ministry of Energy and Water recently traveled to Zaire with the aim of installing solar panels in some municipal offices in the province in the near future.
The construction of police stations, health centers, and other socially impactful projects is included in the Public Investment Program (PIP) for 2026.
It should be noted that for the next fiscal year, 2026, the province of Zaire has an investment portfolio valued at 50 billion kwanzas.
