Africa-Press – Angola. The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) and Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, is already in the opening ceremony room of the TICAD9 Business Fair in Yokohama.
The event marks the prelude to the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which kicks off this Wednesday afternoon at the Yokohama Pacific Convention Center.
The event brings together African leaders and international partners to discuss cooperation strategies in the areas of sustainable development, investment, and technological innovation.
The presence of President João Lourenço, as head of the AU, reinforces the importance of the meeting as a platform for political and economic dialogue between Africa and Japan.
During the conference, speeches by high-ranking dignitaries are expected, as well as the signing of agreements and the presentation of initiatives aimed at the inclusive growth of the African continent.
TICAD, launched in 1993, is organized by the Japanese government in partnership with the UN, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and the African Union Commission, and is considered one of the main forums for cooperation between Africa and the international community.
