Guinea Coach Laments Lack of Focus after Afrobasket Defeat

Africa-Press – Angola. Guinea coach Nedeljiko Asceric highlighted his team’s lack of focus and patience as the cause of the defeat to Mali in the Afrobasket 2025 quarterfinal playoff game in Luanda on Monday.

Speaking to the press after the 67-70 defeat at the Kilamba pavilion, the coach also lamented the difficulties in converting free throws and easy throws.

Despite the elimination, he said he felt satisfied and proud of his players’ fighting spirit, adding that they deserved more.

Alpha Diallo, the top scorer with 33 points, described his Afrobasket experience as having been a time of ups and downs.

He mentioned difficulties in finding space and, despite their efforts, failing to convert even half of their opportunities into points.

The continental tournament is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, achieved on November 11, 1975.
