Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, received São Tomé & Príncipe’s Prime Minister, Américo dos Ramos, in Yokohama on Thursday (21), to discuss aspects related to the bilateral cooperation between the two African Portuguese-speaking countries.

The courtesy meeting took place on the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which entered its second day of sessions on Thursday.

Leaving the meeting, Américo dos Ramos said it was “an honor” to meet with President João Lourenço, “to exchange a few words” about cooperation between the two states.

He explained that the cooperative relations between Angola and São Tomé & Príncipe go beyond what is common between other countries, as the two countries have a “quite significant” historical and blood bond.

According to Américo dos Ramos, every São Toméan feels Angolan when in Angola, and every Angolan in São Tomé & Príncipe feels like a São Toméan.

São Tomé & Príncipe’s Premier stated that any opportunity to exchange a few words is always important and also assured that the meeting was more about emphasizing certain aspects of cooperation and scheduling a possible visit to Angola as soon as possible, and vice versa by President João Lourenço to São Tomé and Príncipe.
