In his speech at the Public-Private Business Dialogue debate, part of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on Africa’s Development (TICAD9), Ishiba assured that, with this commitment, Japan intends to support the diversification of the African economy, promoting human resource training and development, as well as the creation of digital industry startups.
As Africa’s trusted partner, he stated that Japan will continue to further accelerate this trend.
He explained that, with the participation of its universities, Japan will support economic diversification, promoting human resource development and training, as well as the creation of digital industry startups.
He highlighted the fact that TICAD9 surpassed the previous year’s edition three times in terms of agreements signed by African and Japanese businesspeople, with over 300 documents signed.
Shigeru Ishiba welcomed the results achieved so far, which demonstrate that both Japanese and African companies are “committed” to Africa’s future.
He assured that Japan, as Africa’s trusted partner, will continue to further accelerate this trend.
At the event, which brought together representatives from the Japanese and African public and private sectors, he reiterated that Japan will work to solve the challenges Africa faces, “smiling together, crying together, and sweating together.”
He defined economic diversification through the strengthening of sustainable industrial ecosystems, as well as the promotion of connectivity and regional integration within and outside Africa, as priority themes for paving the way for the future.
For Shigeru Ishiba, the energy of young Africans is questioning the continued emergence of new industries based on innovation, just as young Japanese are also understanding the need for Africa to create new services in the health, agriculture, and finance sectors, among others.
