Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen do Sacramento Neto, announced on Wednesday (20), in the municipality of Baía Farta, in the province of Benguela, the opening of two new fishing facilities in the coming months.
The information was released during the minister’s visit to the fishing village of Baía Farta, where she inspected the aforementioned facilities.
The Baía Fish fishery has a storage capacity of 600 tons and an estimated production of 80 tons every 12 hours, totaling 160 tons daily.
The aforementioned fishery, to be inaugurated on a date to be announced, will create 160 direct jobs.
The Alexandra House fishery, located on a 4-hectare place and scheduled to open in early 2026, will have a freezing capacity of 200 tons per day and 1,500 tons of storage.
With an investment of €54 million, it will have 4 trawling and purse seine vessels and 4 freezing chambers.
The future fishery will generate 700 direct jobs.
The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen do Sacramento Neto, made a three-day working visit to the province of Benguela.
During her stay, she visited the fishing zones of Egipto Praia and Equimina, as well as visited fisheries based in the municipality of Baía Farta, as well as the professional technical school for fisheries.
