Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Sunday in Luanda signed 44 cooperation agreements as part of the official working visit of the president of the monarchy, Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The agreements were signed at the Presidential Palace, following a meeting between the Head of State, João Lourenço, and his counterpart.
The agreements are linked to the sectors of diplomacy, defence, security, economy, finance, power, agriculture, health, education, science, culture, sport, mineral resources, renewable energy, fisheries, environment, tourism and youth, thus strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries.
Among the documents, the Reciprocal Visa Waiver Agreement and the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CEPA), the military cooperation, counterterrorism, and combating extremism, financial management, customs administration, banking cooperation between the Central Bank of Angola and the Central Bank of the UAE, stand out.
Institutional protocols involving the Court of Auditors, the Institute for Administrative Modernization, the Angolan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which established cooperation with the United Arab Emirates News Agency, were also signed.

The signing of the agreements reinforces the political will between Luanda and Abu Dhabi to boost bilateral relations, promoting new opportunities for development and multi-sectoral cooperation.
Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is in Angola since Sunday at the invitation of the Angolan government.
Angola and the United Arab Emirates already have agreements for mutual investment protection and the fight against double taxation, considered important pillars of the bilateral relationship.
One notable example of the participation of UAE businesspeople in the Angolan economy is the agricultural tractor assembly plant located in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) in Viana Municipality, Luanda Province.
The United Aarab Emirates is a confederation of seven Arab monarchies, called emirates, namely Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah, Each of them holds its own sovereignty.
The capital, the second-largest city in the UAE, is Abu Dhabi, considered the center of the country’s political, industrial and cultural activities.
