Angola Participates in the 27Th Interpol African Regional Conference

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola is participating, from (Wednesday) until Friday, in the 27th Interpol African Regional Conference, taking place in Cape Town, South Africa, with the aim of analyzing and identifying the main challenges related to transnational crime on the continent.

The Angolan delegation is led by the General Commander of the National Police, Commissioner General Francisco Monteiro Ribas da Silva, and includes the Director General of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), Luciano Tânio da Silva.

The group also includes the Director of the Criminal Offenses Investigation Directorate, Commissioner José Carlos da Silva Piedade; the Director of Exchange and Cooperation, Commissioner Anisabel Santana; and the Director of the Interpol National Bureau, Deputy Commissioner Tito Fernandes, in addition to senior technicians from the National Police and the SIC.

The opening ceremony was presided over by South Africa’s Acting Minister of Police, Firoz Cachalia, and was attended by Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al Rassi, Interpol Secretary-General Valdecy Urquiza, African Union Commission Chair Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, and South African government dignitaries.In the afternoon, the session focused on combating transnational cybercrime, where the acting director of the SIC’s Cybercrime Combating Directorate, Superintendent António Ndhakupapo, presented Angola’s experience in investigating and dismantling online fraud networks.

During the conference, the Interpol African Committee, a subsidiary body supporting African regional conferences, will also be elected. Angola, along with Benin and Cameroon, is on the Electoral Commission.
