Africa-Press – Angola. This Saturday, Cuando Cubango’s team thrashed Sporting de Benguela by 5-0, in a game referring to the 30th round that marked the end of the 44th edition of the National Football Championship of the I Division, Girabola.
At Estádio dos Eucalíptos, in the city of Cuito, Bié, Cuando Cubango started to press and with greater possession of the ball, opting for counterattack football, managed to exert dominance over the opponent.
Cuando Cubango forward Apago was the highlight of the match scoring three goals. Taking advantage of a failure by Sporting de Benguela’s centre-backs, Cuando Cubango took the lead through Apago, going into the break to win 1-0.
On the return of the changing rooms, the team led by Luís Quintas again put pressure on the opponent with the purpose of expanding the result. The pressure exerted by Cuando Cubango made the outsiders disappear in the challenge, after having performed a superb first half.
Xavier, at 48 minutes, made it 2-0, at 63 and 64′, Apago gave shape to the rout. Samuel, at 65′, closed the count. At Estádio das Mangueiras, Desportivo da Luanda-Sul and Sporting de Cabinda drew 1-1. The goals were scored, first by the hosts, at 40 minutes, by Liliano, and then at 71′ by Dieu, by the visitors.
In the other matches, Desportivo da Huíla, after losing, in the 14th minute, against Wiliete de Benguela, made the comeback, with goals from Mendes, Fredy and Malamba. Mona scored for Wiliete.
Deco’s goal, in the 82nd minute, was enough for Recreativo da Caála to win against Académica do Lobito and manage to dislodge the students in seventh place in the league table. João Pintar’s pupils ended the competition with 41 points against the 39 of the Lobitangas. On Saturday, Petro de Luanda tied the trip to Interclube (1-1), 1º de Agosto beat Sagrada (3-1), Kabuscorp defeated Progresso (4-0), and Recreativo do Libolo divided points against Bravos do Maquis (1-1).
