Africa-Press – Angola. Construction work on the Gas Treatment Center (CTG) in the municipality of Soyo, northern Zaire province, will be completed in October. The facility is expected to receive the first shipment of natural gas from the Angola LNG unit.
According to the National Petroleum and Gas Agency (ANPG), in a recent post on its official website, last week a team of specialists from the oil company Sonangol conducted an inspection of the construction site and concluded that the Soyo combined cycle plant will be ready to receive the inaugural shipment from the Angola LNG unit.
During the visit, the delegation learned about the construction work on the tunnel between land and sea for the gas pipeline, which is currently in the dismantling phase of the construction materials.
The document emphasizes that the fields and their production and processing facilities will allow for increased production of natural gas and its derivatives, as well as increased transportation capacity to the Angola LNG plant.
About the project
The gas center will provide gas to the combined cycle thermoelectric plant, the Soyo fertilizer plant, and other industrial projects such as the ammonia and urea plant, aiming for self-sufficiency in fertilizers.
A fully operational infrastructure will have a natural gas processing capacity of 412 mmscfd (Million Standard Cubic Feet), representing a total investment of 42.8 million US dollars.
