Angolan President Calls Extraordinary Security Council Meeting

Africa-Press – Angola. President João Lourenço chaired an extraordinary session of the National Security Council in Luanda on Monday to analyze the situation in the country.

The National Security Council is a consultative body comprised by 23 members, namely the Vice President of the Republic, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the president judge of the Supreme Court of the Constitutional Court, and the Supreme Military Court, as well as the Attorney General and the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic.

It also includes the Ministers of State and the Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, the Ministers of Economic Coordination, and the Ministers of Social Affairs.

The Ministers of National Defense, Veterans and Veterans, the Ministers of the Interior, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Territorial Administration, and Justice and Human Rights are also members.

The body also includes the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Commander-in-Chief of the National Police, the heads of the State Intelligence and Security Services, the Military Intelligence and Security Services, the Director General of the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Inspector General of the State Administration, and the Director General of the Criminal Investigation Service.

Also participating in the meeting were invited members and a technical group comprised of other entities involved in the area of national security.

The Council is a collegiate advisory body to the President of the Republic that deals with matters related to national security.
