MPLA Reinforces Discipline and Ethics for 2027 Elections

Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA concluded, at the Futungo II Tourist Complex, in Luanda, the 1st Disciplinary Council and 2nd National Seminar on Discipline, Ethics and Integrity, with the reaffirmation of the commitment to strengthen internal discipline, ethics and transparency within the Party, with a view to the upcoming political challenges, namely the Congress and the 2027 General Elections.

The coordinator of the MPLA’s Discipline, Audit and Ethics Committee (CDA), Pedro de Morais Neto, when presenting the deliberations, emphasized that disciplinary structures have the duty to ensure compliance with statutory norms, monitor the performance of grassroots organizations and deal with inappropriate conduct in a fair and impartial manner.

“We leave this forum with the conviction that the MPLA will continue to be the vanguard political force in our society and our country,” highlighted Pedro de Morais Neto.

Among the measures identified, the strengthening of internal control stands out, through financial and operational audits, training and awareness on ethics at all levels of the Party, the creation of incentives for good practices and encouragement of meritocracy, the definition of priorities and coordination of disciplinary processes, in addition to the regular reporting to party bodies and organizations.

Pedro de Morais Neto recalled that, although the CDAs do not have an autonomous deliberative nature, they have the strategic mission of preserving statutory fidelity, ensuring ideological cohesion and safeguarding internal unity.

Congress and elections

The Commission coordinator also highlighted that 2026 and 2027 will be years of great responsibility, with the holding of the MPLA Congress and the preparation of the electoral process.

According to the politician, the congress must constitute the “antechamber of elections”, organized under the principles of unity, ethics and integrity.

“If we are united around our leader, Comrade President João Lourenço, and consistent in our work, the party will be more disciplined, resilient, and worthy of the electorate’s trust to win the 2027 General Elections,” he said.

Positive balance

Pedro de Morais Neto considered that both the 1st Disciplinary Council and the 2nd National Seminar achieved their objectives by providing tools that, in his view, will “substantially improve the quality of work” and project the MPLA to higher levels of organization and functioning.

“We leave this forum with the conviction that the MPLA will continue to be the vanguard political force in our society and our country,” he concluded.

The event took place at the Futungo II Complex, in the Central Committee room, and was attended by members of the Secretariat of the Political Bureau, the Central Committee, the Honorary Council, Division Chiefs and Analysts of the Commission, directors of Departments and Offices of the Central Committee, and others, as well as representatives of the country’s 21 provinces.

The Discipline, Ethics and Audit Committee, the MPLA’s national body, meets regularly once a year and extraordinarily whenever necessary.
