Africa-Press – Angola. The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Angola, Ms Henny Fokel de Vries, on Monday in Luanda expressed her country’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with Angola focusing on agriculture, energy, water, health, and women’s empowerment.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the ceremony to hand over her credentials to the Head of State, João Lourenço, the diplomat acknowledged that, although there are challenges, the opportunities for cooperation are significant.
Ms Henny Fokel de Vries said that although there are challenges, she sees opportunities for both countries to work together.
The ambassador revealed that cooperation programs are already underway in the Lobito Corridor, with the goal of developing an agrologistics platform capable of creating jobs and contributing to the diversification of the Angolan economy.
Among the priority areas of cooperation, the diplomat highlighted support for sustainable agriculture, reinforced by initiatives in the energy, water, and health sectors.
She said it is essential for her country that no one is left behind, adding that her government is committed to empowering young women as well as creating opportunities, especially in the area of entrepreneurship.
According to Henny Fokel de Vries, the Dutch mission in Angola is guided by a vision of inclusive and lasting development, based on strong partnerships and mutual respect.
The diplomat expressed her willingness to work with the Angolan authorities and other partners to build a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future.
The new Dutch ambassador to Angola, Henny Fokel de Vries, has a diplomatic career spanning over 23 years. Previously, she worked in Tanzania, Bangladesh, Mozambique, and Pakistan, as well as in various departments of the Dutch Foreign Ministry.
