Angola and Cape Verde Compete for Independence Title

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan senior men’s handball team and their Cape Verdean counterparts will compete for the title of the “Angola 50 Years” International Tournament at 6 pm on Saturday, in a match taking place at the Kilamba Multipurpose Pavilion in Luanda.

Both teams remain undefeated in the competition, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of National Independence, to be celebrated on November 11th.

Angola defeated Morocco in the second round, on Thursday, by 30-17, before overcoming Angola B in their debut, by 17-12.Cape Verde, with the same history, defeated Angola B on Thursday, 31-19. In the opening round, they won against Morocco, 31-25.

Angola and Cape Verde have six points each, but the latter have scored 15 more goals.

Meanwhile, for third place, the tournament features Angola B vs. Morocco, starting at 4 PM, in the same Kilamba pavilion.

Without any points, the second host team lost to Angola, 12-17, and to Cape Verde, 19-31.

The Kingdom of Morocco team only lost to Cape Verde, 25-31, in the first round.

Today, Friday, the tournament paused.

The event also forms part of the National Team’s preparation for the 2026 African Championship.
