Africa-Press – Angola. Eight economic projects, valued at 881 million kwanzas, were financed during the first semester of this year, in the province of Zaire, under the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI).

The information was provided on Wednesday, in the city of Mbanza Kongo, by the head of department of the national economic directorate for business development, Manuel Oliveira, during the presentation of Prodesi results in this province.

The official considered the number of processes from local economic agents sent to creditor institutions to be very low compared to other provinces in the country, which is why he encouraged the local business class to present more projects in the near future.

Manuel Oliveira mentioned that currently the policies for approving projects for investment are easier with the emergence of the Credit Guarantee Fund, compared to the past when commercial banks required a guarantor and a robust structure to grant credit.

He clarified that, currently, in the event that the entrepreneur has a properly structured project, the Credit Guarantee Fund can assume the risks of reimbursing the amount received by a specific entity in the event of unavailability on its part.

He said that in 2024 the Credit Guarantee Fund secured 313 projects, out of the six thousand and 321 actions approved across the country.

Manuel Oliveira added that in the first six months of the current year, this institution secured 92 projects, which generated financing valued at 70 billion kwanzas.

In relation to the service provided in Angola, the source said that 980 companies were registered in six months, while in terms of access to the foreign market, 399 thousand and 234 tons were exported, in the first half of the year alone.

He highlighted that, overall, from the creation of Prodesi in 2019 until 2024, the Executive provided 1.5 billion kwanzas and generated 104 thousand and 462 formal jobs throughout the national territory.

At the opening of the event, the deputy governor of Zaire for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Afonso Nzolameso, called for greater transparency in the selection and provision of bank credits to local economic agents.

Manuel Oliveira also spoke about the problems of landowners, taxes, among other issues that candidates present as obstacles to accessing Prodesi products in this northern region of Angola. The balance of Prodesi’s results has already been presented in the provinces of Moxico and Lunda-Sul.
